Nyrop, Christoph, roman. Philolog, geb. 11. Jan. 1858 in Kopenhagen, studierte daselbst und in Paris und wurde an der Kopenhagener Universität Professor. Seine Hauptwerke sind: »Den oldfranske heltedigtning« (Kopenh. 1883; ins Italienische übersetzt von Gorra, Flor. 1886) und »Grammaire historique de la langue française« (Kopenh. 1899 bis 1903, Bd. 1 u. 2; Bd. 1 in 2. Aufl. 1904); von seinen übrigen Schriften sind zu nennen »Adjektivernes könsböjning i de romanske sprog« (das. 1886); »Kysset og dets historie« (»Der Kuß und seine Geschichte«, 2. Aufl., das. 1897; engl., Lond. 1902); »Ordenes liv« (»Das Leben der Wörter«, das. 1901; deutsch von R. Vogt, Leipz. 1903).
