Monsummāno

Monsummāno, Flecken in der ital. Provinz und dem Kreise Lucca, 23 m ü. M., an der Nievole, mit altem Kastell (12. Jahrh.), Kirchen aus dem 13. Jahrh., Denkmal des hier gebornen Dichters Giusti und (1901) 1660 (als Gemeinde 8527) Einw. Nahe dabei eine 1849 entdeckte, berühmt gewordene Tropfsteingrotte (»Grotta Giusti«) mit zwei warmen, salzhaltigen Teichen (32–40°), deren Dämpfe gegen Rheumatismen, Gicht und Ischias angewendet werden.
