Auburn (spr. aobörn), 1) Hauptstadt der Grafschaft Cayuga im nordamerikan. Staat New York, am Owascosee, Bahnkreuzungspunkt, mit presbyterianisch-theologischem Seminar, Staatsgefängnis (s. Auburnsches System), Fabriken für Maschinen, Wolle, Musikinstrumenten und (1900) 30,345 Einw. – 2) Hauptstadt der Grafschaft Androscoggin im Staat Maine, an den Androscogginfällen, Bahnknoten, Lewiston (s. d.) gegenüber, mit Schuh- und Baumwollfabriken und (1900) 12,951 Einw. – 3) Dorf in Alabama, Grafschaft Lee, Bahnstation bei Opelika, mit Ackerbau- und Gewerbschule und (1900) 1447 Einw.
