Little Walsingham

Little Walsingham (New Walsingham, spr. nju ŭóllsing-ĕm), Städtchen in der engl. Grafschaft Norfolk, am Flüßchen Stiffkey, 8 km südöstlich von Wells, mit einer gotischen Pfarrkirche, den Ruinen eines Augustinerklosters (im Mittelalter berühmter Wallfahrtsort) und eines Franziskanerklosters und (1901) 867 Einw. Noch Heinrich VIII. wallfahrtete 1510 zum Muttergottesbilde von L., ließ es später aber in Chelsea verbrennen.
