Kirstein

Kirstein, Georg, Bischof von Mainz, geb. 2. Juli 1858 in Mainz, ward 1882 in Eichstätt zum Priester geweiht, wirkte als Hilfsseelsorger an verschiedenen Orten, seit 1891 als Pfarrer in Gaulgesheim in Rheinhessen, wurde 1900 Dekan des Dekanats Oberingelheim, 1902 Domkapitular in Mainz und 15. Okt. 1903 Regens des dortigen Priesterseminars. Schon 30. Nov. 1903 erfolgte die Wahl dieses als versöhnlich bekannten Geistlichen zum Nachfolger des am 5. Nov. verstorbenen Bischofs Brück.
