Kaps, Ernst, Pianofortefabrikant, geb. 9. Dez. 1826 in Döbeln, gest. 11. Febr. 1887 in Dresden, machte sich, nachdem er in den ersten Etablissements seines Faches gearbeitet, 1860 in Dresden selbständig und wurde bald darauf zum königlich sächsischen Hofpianofortefabrikanten ernannt. K. baute Stutzflügel besonders kleinen Formats und nahm Patente für besondere Mensuren der Saiten und eine eigenartige Konstruktion des Resonanzbodens (Resonator).
