Journal des Débats (spr. schurnáll dä debá, vollständig J. d. D. politiques et littéraires), eine der ältesten Pariser Tageszeitungen, die 1789 zur Berichterstattung über die Sitzungen des Nationalkonvents gegründet wurde. 1800 ging sie in den Besitz von L. F. Bertin dem ältern (s. Bertin 3) über, der sie bis zu seinem Tode (1841) leitete und ihr durch Heranziehung der hervorragendsten Schriftsteller seiner Zeit ein vornehmes literarisches Gepräge gab. Bis 1871 wurde das J., das noch jetzt im Besitz von Mitgliedern der Familie Bertin ist, von den Brüdern Armand und Eduard Bertin (s. Bertin 5) geleitet. Gegenwärtiger Leiter ist De Nalèche. Das J. erscheint täglich zweimal und vertritt eine gemäßigt-republikanische Richtung. Vgl. die Jubiläumsschrift »Le livre du centenaire du J.« (Par. 1889).
