Gripsholm

Gripsholm, schwed. Schloß am Mälarsee, unweit Mariefred, von Gustav I. seit 1537 auf den Ruinen eines ältern Schlosses ausgeführt, von Gustav III. umgebaut, seit 1892 gründlich restauriert, bildet jetzt eine Art Museum mit einer interessanten historischen Bildnissammlung. Früher diente es öfters als Staatsgefängnis, so für Johann III. (1563–67), Erich XIV. (1571–73) und Gustav IV. Adolf (1809). Vgl. G. Nordensvan, G. och dess konstskatter (2. Aufl., Stockh. 1903).
