Gratiolet

Gratiolet (spr. graßĭolä), Louis Pierre, Anatom, geb. 6. Juli 1815 in Ste. – Foy (Gironde), gest. 16. Febr. 1865, trat als Präparator in das Museum zu Paris, erhielt 1854 eine Professur an diesem Institut, 1862 an der Sorbonne und ward 1863 Nachfolger von J. Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire. G. beschäftigte sich vorzugsweise mit der Anatomie des Gehirns des Menschen und der Säugetiere und den Beziehungen zwischen Struktur und Entwickelung dieses Organs einerseits und den Fähigkeiten der Tiere anderseits. Er schrieb: »Mémoire sur les plis cérébraux de l'homme et des primates« (1854); »Recherches sur le système vasculaire« (1862); »De la physionomie et des mouvements d'expression« (1865, 4. Aufl. 1882); »Recherches sur l'anatomie de l'hippopotame« (1867). Auch lieferte er den 2. Band zu Leurets »Anatomie comparée du système nerveux« (1857).
