Grand Rapids (spr. gränd rāppids), 1) Hauptstadt der Grafschaft Kent im nordamerikan. Staat Michigan, an den 6 m hohen Fällen des Grand River, 50 km von dessen Mündung in den Michigansee und am Reedssee gelegen, Knotenpunkt von zehn Bahnen, hat ein schönes Stadthaus, Freimaurerhalle, Invalidenhaus und (1900) 87,565 Einw., darunter viele Deutsche. Die Industrie erzeugte 1900 in 824 Betrieben mit 14,361 Arbeitern für 24,8 Mill. Doll. Waren und ist besonders hervorragend in Hausrat (43 Betriebe mit 6349 Arbeitern und für 7,5 Mill. Doll. Waren), Maschinen, Eisenguß und Müllerei. In der Nähe sind große Gipsbrüche. – 2) Stadt im nordamerikan. Staat Wisconsin, Grafschaft Wood, Bahnknotenpunkt, an den Schnellen des Wisconsinflusses, mit starker Wasserkraft, Sägemühlen, Holzindustrie und (1900) 4493 Einw.
