Gostyn, Kreisstadt im preuß. Regbez. Posen, Knotenpunkt der Staatsbahnlinie Lissa-Jarotschin und der Kleinbahn Kosten-G., hat eine kath. Kirche, Synagoge, Amtsgericht, Zuckerfabrik, Dampfziegeleien, Molkerei, ein Sägewerk und (1900) 4844 meist kath. Einwohner. Auf einem Hügel vor der Stadt liegt das schöne, 1834 aufgehobene Philippinerkloster, ein besuchter Wallfahrtsort.
