Fiorini, Matteo, ital. Geograph, geb. 14. Aug. 1827 in Felizzaro (Prov. Alessandria), gest. 15. Jan. 1901 in Bologna, wurde 1848 Wasserbauingenieur, war aber gleichzeitig Privatdozent für mathematische Wissenschaften an der Turiner Universität und kam 1860 als Professor der Geodätik nach Bologna, wo er bis zu seinem Tode blieb. Seine Hauptwerke sind: »Le projezioni delle carte geografiche« (Bologna 1881), noch heute ein Hauptwerk in diesem Wissenszweige; »Le sfere cosmografiche e specialmente le sfere terrestri« (Rom 1894; in freier deutscher Bearbeitung von S. Günther: »Erd- und Himmelsgloben, ihre Geschichte und Konstruktion«, Leipz. 1895); »e'fere terestri e celesti di autore italiano oppure fatte o conservate in Italia« (Rom 1899).
