Fanfāni

Fanfāni, Pietro, ital. Philolog und Schriftsteller, geb. 21. April 1815 bei Pistoja, gest. 4. März 1879 in Florenz, widmete sich, anfangs Mediziner, bald dem Studium der vaterländischen Sprache und Literatur, war journalistisch tätig und gründete 1847 die Zeitschrift »Ricordi filologici«. 1848 nahm er an den Kämpfen bei Montanara und Curtatone teil. Gefangen, aber bald wieder entlassen, erhielt er eine Anstellung im Unterrichtsministerium, 1859 wurde er Bibliothekar an der Marucelliana in Florenz. F. gab 1851–52 die Monatsschrift »L'Etruria« heraus und gründete, nachdem diese eingegangen, einige belletristische Blätter. 1855 veröffentlichte er das hochverdienstliche »Vocabolario della lingua italiana« (2 Bde.), dem ein »Vocabolario dell' uso toscano« und »Vocabolario della pronuncia toscana« (beide Flor. 1863), zuletzt in Verbindung mit Rigutini das »Vocabolario italiano della lingua parlata« (das. 1875, neueste Aufl. 1893) nachfolgten. Im »Piovano Arlotto« schuf er ein geschätztes Organ für seinen Humor. Die »Scritti capricciosi« (1864) und die launige Satire »Democritus ridens, ricreazioni letterarie« (1872) sind interessante Leistungen in dieser Richtung. Auf novellistischem Gebiet erschienen von ihm: »Cecco d'Ascoli« (2. Aufl. 1870), »La Paolina« (1868), »Una bambola« (1869), »Il fiaccherajo e la sua famiglia« (1874) und »Novelle e ghiribizzi« (1879). Vgl. Cerquetti, Pietro F. e le sue opere (Flor. 1879).
