Eustachĭo

Eustachĭo, Bartolommeo, Mediziner, geboren zu San Severino in der Mark Ancona, nach andern bei Salerno oder in Katalonien, gest. im August 1574 in Rom, studierte in Rom, wurde päpstlicher Leibarzt und Professor der Medizin. Er schrieb: »Opuscula anatomica« (Vened. 1564 u. ö., Leiden 1704, Delft 1726); »Tabulae anatomicae« (hergestellt 1552, hrsg. von Lancisi, Rom 1714; Genf 1717; Erklärung von Albinus, Leiden 1744; mit deutscher Erklärung von Kraus, Amsterd. 1800). Seinen Namen tragen noch zwei Teile des menschlichen Körpers: die Ohrtrompete zwischen Mund- und Trommelhöhle (Eustachische Röhre, Tuba Eustachii), die er zuerst genauer beschrieb, und die halbmondförmige Klappe an der Einmündung der vena cava inferior in den rechten Vorhof (Eustachische Klappe, Valvula Eustachii).
