Dulcīn

Dulcīn (Paraphenetolkarbamid, Paraäthoxyphenylharnstoff, Sukrol) C9H12N2O2 oder NH2CO.NH.C6H4.OC2H5 entsteht (analog der Harnstoffbildung aus cyansaurem Ammoniak) beim Verdampfen der Lösung von cyansaurem Paraamidophenetol C.OH.NH2.C6H4.OC2H5.N und wird dargestellt durch Behandeln von salzsaurem Paraphenetidin mit Harnstoff unter Druck bei 150–160°. Es bildet farblose glänzende Nadeln, schmeckt sehr süß (weniger aufdringlich als Sakcharin), ersetzt 200 Teile Zucker, ist völlig unschädlich, löst sich bei 15° in 800 Teilen Wasser, leichter in kochendem Wasser und in Alkohol, schmilzt bei 173–174° und zersetzt sich bei 190° in Diparaphenetolkarbamid und kohlensaures Ammoniak. Beim Erhitzen mit Wasser unter hohem Druck zerfällt es in Phenetidin und kohlensaures Ammoniak. – D. ist auch soviel wie Dulcit (s. d.).
