Dosithĕus

Dosithĕus (D. Magister), Grammatiker, versah gegen Ende des 4. Jahrh. n. Chr. zum Unterricht für griechisch redende Knaben eine ältere lateinische Grammatik mit einer wörtlichen griechischen Übersetzung, die sich jedoch neben dem lateinischen Text nur z. T. erhalten hat (hrsg. von Keil in den »Grammatici latini«, Bd. 7, Leipz. 1880). Dieser Grammatik sind eine Reihe griechisch-lateinischer Übungsstücke angehängt worden, die sogen. »Hermeneumata Pseudodositheana« (Gesamtausg. von Goetz, Leipz. 1892); sie enthalten Wörterverzeichnisse, alltägliche Gespräche, Anekdoten von Hadrian u.a., insbes. das sogen. »Fragmentum Dositheanum« juristischen Inhalts (»De iuris speciebus et manumissionibus«, hrsg. von Huschke in »Iurisprudentiae anteiustinianae quae supersunt«, 5. Aufl., Leipz. 1886, und Krüger in »Collectio librorum iuris anteiustiniani«, Bd. 2, Berl. 1878). Vgl. Lachmann, Über D. (im 2.
