Dirk

Dirk, ein Tau, das vom Masttopp nach dem äußern Ende des Besanbaumes führt, um diesen wagerecht zu halten (aufdirken); langes, einschneidiges Dolchmesser, bei dem Bügel und Parierstange derart gebogen sind, daß die Angriffswaffe damit gefaßt werden kann; wurde früher in Schottland gebraucht.
