Cantōni

Cantōni, Carlo, Philosoph, geb. 1840 zu Gropello in der Provinz Pavia, studierte in Turin Rechtswissenschaft und Philosophie, dann seit 1865 in Berlin unter Trendelenburg, in Göttingen unter Lotze, wurde 1866 Professor am Lyzeum Cavour in Turin, später in Mailand tätig und 1878 Professor der Philosophie in Pavia. In seiner philosophischen Richtung neigt er zu Kant. Er schrieb unter anderm: »G. Battista Vico, studii, virtù e comparazione« (Turin 1867); »Corse elementare di filosofia« (Mail. 1870; 10. Aufl. 1896, 3 Bde.); »Emanuele Kant« (das. 1879–84, 3 Bde.).
