Bonduku

Bonduku (Bontuku), Stadt in der franz. Kolonie Elfenbeinküste, nahe der Ostgrenze, Hauptstadt des gleichnamigen Staates, mit 2500–3000 Einw., einer der bedeutendsten Handelsplätze der Kolonie und Mittelpunkt des Handels mit Gold, das sich namentlich in der Landschaft Diamman findet. B. ist die mohammedanische Hauptstadt eines fetischistischen Reiches mit den Landschaften Diamman oder Gaman, Fugula, Pakhalla, Barabo und Abron, das 1888 das französische Protektorat annahm. Doch wurde 1889 und 1893 ein Teil des Nordostens an England abgetreten.
