Blackmore

Blackmore (spr. bläckmōr), Richard Doddridge, engl. Romandichter, geb. 9. Juni 1825 zu Longworth in Berkshire, gest. 21. 1878); »Cradock Nowell« (1866) und besonders »Lorna Doone« (1869; an 50 Auflagen; deutsch, Köln 1880) sowie »The maid of Sker« (1872). Neuere Werke sind: »Alice Lorraine« (1875); »Cripps the Carrier« (1876); »Erema« (1877); »Mary Anerley« (1880); »Christowell« (1881); »Kit and Kitty, a story of West Middlesex« (1889) u. a. Jahrhunderts.
