White scour

White scour (engl., spr. ūait ßkaur, »weißer Durchfall«), eine verheerende Infektionskrankheit der Kälber in Irland, seit 1901 von Nocard erforscht. Die Kälber erkranken gleich nach der Geburt an einem unstillbaren Durchfall. Die Exkremente sind weiß und schaumig. Die Mehrzahl stirbt binnen 8 Tagen. Andre werden 8–10 Wochen alt und zeigen Eiterherde in den Lungen (Lung disease). Die Lungenerkrankung schließt sekundär an die Darmkrankheit in den langsamer verlaufenden Fällen an. Es ist jedoch anzunehmen, daß es sich um zwei verschiedene Krankheiten handelt. Der Krankheitserreger, eine Pasteurella (s. Pasteurellose), ist nachgewiesen. Die Vorbeugemaßregeln entsprechen denen bei Kälberruhr (s. d.).
