Uist, zwei Inseln der äußern Hebriden, an der Westküste Schottlands (Grafschaft Inverneß), die eine nördlich, die andre südlich von Benbecula, North-U. mit (1901) 2936, South-U. mit 3541 meist katholischen (überwiegend gälischen) Einwohnern, die Fischerei, Vogelsang, Viehzucht und etwas Ackerbau treiben. Die Inseln haben steile Küsten, zahlreiche gute Häfen und kleine Seen. Ben Eval auf North-U. ist 345 m, Ben More auf South-U. 621 m hoch.
