Bellōri

Bellōri, Giovanni Pietro, ital. Kunsthistoriker, geb. um 1636 in Rom, gest. daselbst um 1700, war anfangs Maler, wandte sich aber bald archäologischen und literarischen Studien zu und wurde später zum Antiquar des Papstes ernannt. Von seinen Schriften haben noch heute die Lebensbeschreibungen der Künstler seiner Zeit (»Le vite de' pittori, scultori ed architetti moderni«, Rom 1672) historischen Wert, weil sie aus persönlichem Umgang geschöpfte biographische Mitteilungen enthalten.
