Beaujolais

Beaujolais (spr. bōscholä), franz. Landschaft in der ehemaligen Provinz Lyonnais, zwischen der Loire und Saône, mit den Hauptorten Beaujeu und Villefranche, jetzt zu den Departements Loire und Rhone gehörig. Von dem hier gebauten und sehr geschätzten Wein (Beaujolaiswein) werden jährlich große Quantitäten ausgeführt (vgl. Vermorel und Danguy, Les vins du B. etc., Dijon 1894). Die Grafschaft B., 1525 von Frankreich eingezogen, war später im Besitz der Herzöge von Orléans. Vgl. La Roche-La-C arelle, Histoire du B.
