Revilla-Gigēdo

Revilla-Gigēdo (spr. rewillja-), zum mexikan. Staat Colima gehörige Inselgruppe im Stillen Ozean, zwischen 18°20'–19°20' nördl. Br. und 111–115° westl. L., 550 km vom Kap Corrientes, besteht aus der bis 1131 m hohen Insel Socorro (San Tomas) und den vulkanischen San Benedicto, Roca Portida und Clarion, 186 qkm mit 1500 Einw. Die Inseln haben keine Säugetiere, dagegen eine nur hier heimische Eidechse, eine auch auf der Gruppe Las Tres Marias (bei San Blas) vorkommende Landschnecke und neun Landvögel, von denen vier der Gruppe allein angehören. Das Meer ist reich an Robben und Schildkröten.
