Priērĭas

Priērĭas, eigentlich Silvester Mazzolini aus Prierio (Grafschaft Montserrat), geb. um 1456, gest. Anfang 1523 in Rom, Dominikaner, wurde 1508 Generalvikar der lombardischen Ordensprovinz, 1514 von Leo X. als Lehrer der thomistischen Theologie nach Rom berufen und 1515 zum Magister sacri palatii und römischen Inquisitor ernannt. Als solcher hat er im Prozeß Reuchlins (s. d.) mitgewirkt und eröffnete mit seinem »Dialogus in praesumptuosas Martini Lutheri conclusiones de potestate papae« (1518) die theologische Polemik gegen Luther.
