Phliūs

Phliūs, unabhängige, dorische Stadt im nordöstlichen Peloponnes, Hauptort des durch seinen Wein berühmten Gebiets Phliasia, am obern Asopos, 290 m hoch, hatte fast stets eine aristokratische Verfassung und hielt bis nach dem Peloponnesischen Krieg treu zu Sparta. 394 v. Chr. ward infolge einer demokratischen Bewegung die seit kurzem bestehende Oligarchie daselbst gestürzt und erst nach langen innern Kämpfen und nach Eroberung der Stadt durch Agesilaos (379) wiederhergestellt. Später trat P. dem Achäischen Bunde bei. Überreste bei dem Dorfe Hagios Georgios.
