Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire (spr. northämt'nschĭr), Binnengrafschaft in England, grenzt im Norden an die Grafschaften Leicester, Rutland und Lincoln, im O. an Cambridge, Huntingdon und Bedford, im S. an Buckingham und Oxford, im W. an Warwick, umfaßt 2598 qkm (47,2 QM.). Die Bevölkerung beträgt (1901) 338,088 Seelen (130 auf 1 qkm), als Verwaltungsbezirk hat es 207,485 Einw. Dazu gehört noch der Bezirk von Peterborough (s. d.). Hauptstadt ist Northampton.
