Auenbrugger von Auenbrugg

Auenbrugger von Auenbrugg, Leopold, Mediziner, geb. 19. Nov. 1722 in Graz, gest. 17. Mai 1809 in Wien, studierte in Wien, wirkte daselbst 1751 bis 1768 als Arzt am spanischen Hospital und fand 1754, daß die verschiedenen Schallarten, die bei dem Anklopfen an die Brustwand gesunder und kranker Personen entstehen, einen sehr wichtigen Maßstab für die Beurteilung des Zustandes der Atemorgane abgeben. Nach siebenjähriger Prüfung seiner Beobachtungen veröffentlichte er seine epochemachende Entdeckung in dem Werk »Inventum novum ex percussione thoracis humani interni pectoris morbos detegendi« (Wien 1761).
