Mellōni, Macedonio, Physiker, geb. 11. April 1798 in Parma, gest. 11. Aug. 1854 in Portici, war seit 1824 Professor der Physik in Parma, floh 1831 wegen Teilnahme an politischen Umtrieben nach Paris, wurde 1839 Direktor des Konservatoriums der Künste und Gewerbe in Neapel und leitete hier bis 1848 auch ein meteorologisches Observatorium auf dem Vesuv. Er lieferte Untersuchungen über die strahlende Wärme und wies auch zuerst die Wärme im Mondlicht nach. Er schrieb: »La thermochrose, ou la coloration calorifique« (Neapel 1850).
