Aubanel

Aubanel (spr. ōbănéll), Théodore, der bedeutendste Dramatiker in neuprovenzalischer Sprache, einer der Félibres, geb. 26. März 1829 in Avignon, gest. daselbst 31. Okt. 1886, stammte aus einer Buchdruckerfamilie, deren Geschäft er weiterführte. Seine lyrischen Dichtungen, zart und schwermütig, sind in der Sammlung »La Miòugrano entreduberto« (»Der halbgeöffnete Granatapfel«, 1860, 2. Aufl. 1876) vereinigt. Seine Dramen: »Lou Pastre« (»Der Hirt«), »Lou Pan dóu pecat« (»Das Brot der Sünde«, 1878 in Montpellier ausgeführt; franz. von Arène, 1888), »Lou Raubatòri« (»Die Entführung«), sind von einer leidenschaftlichen Glut erfüllt und von packendem Realismus.
