Manuāl (lat.), im allgemeinen soviel wie Handbuch oder Memorial (s. Buchhaltung, S. 539); im Rechnungswesen das Buch, worin Ausgaben und Einnahmen nicht nach chronologischer Ordnung, wie im Kassenbuch, sondern nach den Quellen und verschiedenen Zwecken (nach Titeln und Kapiteln) eingetragen sind. Bei der Orgel heißt M. die für das Spiel der Hände bestimmte Klaviatur im Gegensatz zu dem durch die Füße gespielten Pedal. Wie die Orgel hatten früher auch die Klaviere vielfach zwei Manuale. Vgl.
