Loafer (englisch-amerikan., spr. lōfer), etwa soviel wie Bummler, Pflastertreter, in den großen Hafenstädten Amerikas und Australiens Bezeichnung für Subjekte, die es namentlich auf die gefüllten Beutel der Einwanderer abgesehen haben. Vgl. Runner.
