Labriola, Antonio, ital. Philosoph und Sozialist, geb. 1843 in Cassino, gest. 2. Febr. 1904, studierte in Neapel Philosophie und wurde 1874 außerordentlicher, später ordentlicher Professor zuerst für Pädagogik und Ethik, seit 1887 auch für Philosophie der Geschichte an der Universität in Rom. Ursprünglich auf konservativem Boden stehend, wurde er allmählich ein Anhänger der materialistischen Geschichtsauffassung von K. Marx und trat zur Sozialdemokratie über, als deren geistiger Führer in Italien er, ohne ein parlamentarisches Mandat zu besitzen, großen Einfluß ausübte. Unter seinen ältern Schriften sind hervorzuheben: »La dottrina di Socrate secondo Senofonte, Platone ed Aristotele« (Neap. 1871), »Dell' insegnamento della storia« (Turin 1876), »I proplemi della filosofia della storia« (Rom 1887); unter den spätern die »Saggi della concezione materialistica della storia«, besonders Bd. 1: »In memoria del manifesto dei comunisti« (3. Aufl., das. 1902), und Bd. 3: »Discorrendo di socialismo e di filosofia« (das. 1898). – Seine Tochter Teresa L. wirkt als Dozentin der Rechtsphilosophie in Rom an der Universität und hat eine Reihe von Schriften veröffentlicht, unter anderm: »Revisione critica delle più recenti teorie sulle origini del diritto« (1901), »Del divorzo« (1901), »La donna nella società moderna« (1902), »La Persona« (1902).
