Arrest (spr. arrä), Heinrich Louis d', Astronom, geb. 13. Juli 1822 in Berlin, gest. 14. Juni 1875 in Kopenhagen, studierte seit 1839 in Berlin, wurde 1848 Observator an der Sternwarte zu Leipzig, 1857 Professor in Kopenhagen, wo er den Bau der 1861 vollendeten Sternwarte leitete. Er entdeckte über 200 neue Nebelflecke und Sternhaufen und 3 Kometen, unter diesen 27. Juni 1851 einen periodischen von 6,7 Jahren Umlaufszeit (d'Arrestscher Komet). Er schrieb: »Resultate aus Beobachtungen der Nebelflecke und Sternhaufen« (Leipz. 1856); »Siderum nebulosorum observationes Hafnienses« (Kopenh. 1867); »Untersuchungen über die nebulosen Sterne in Bezug auf ihre spektralanalytischen Eigenschaften« (das. 1872); »Instrumentum magnum aequatoreum in specula Universitatis Hafniensis erectum« (das. 1860).
