Kochowski

Kochowski (Nieczuja-K. von Kochow), Hieronymus Vespasian, poln. Dichter, geb. 1633 zu Gaj in der Landschaft Sandomir, gest. 1699, studierte auf der Akademie zu Krakau, vertauschte dann aber die Feder mit dem Säbel und nahm als Soldat 1651–60 an allen Kosaken- und Schwedenkriegen teil. Auch war K. in der Folge Augenzeuge der Befreiung Wiens durch Sobieski, die er in einer besondern Dichtung (Krakau 1684) besang. K. ist der allseitige und charakteristische Vertreter der polnischen Poesie des 17. Jahrh. Seine Dichtungen bestehen zunächst in kühnen und frischen, immer fröhlichen, oft auch ausgelassenen Liedern, die er zur Erheiterung des Lagerlebens dichtete, in kleinen Satiren, Oden und Epigrammen (gesammelt, Krakau 1674); später verfaßte er besonders religiöse Dichtungen, darunter ein 5000 Verse umfassendes Epos: »Chrystus cierpiący« (»Der leidende Christus«, das. 1681). Besondere Erwähnung verdient noch die aus seinen letzten Lebensjahren stammende »Psalmodya polska« (»Polnische Psalmodie«, Krakau 1695). Auch mehrere historische Werke, z. B. »Annalium Poloniae ab obitu Vladislai IV. climacteres 1. 2. 3.« (Krakau 1683–98; Buch 4 als Manuskript), hat K. hinterlassen. Seine Biographie schrieb Rzążewski (poln., Warsch. 1871). Vgl.
