Hyksos (Helu-Schosu, »Fürsten der Schosu-Beduinen«, sonst auch Hirtenkönige genannt), semit. Beduinenvolk, das um 1700 v. Chr. Ägypten eroberte, aber nach 150jähriger Herrschaft um 1550 wieder vertrieben wurde. S. Ägypten, S. 196.
