Hormuzân

Hormuzân (Harmosan), pers. Satrap der Susiana, ward 640 n. Chr. nach tapferer Verteidigung in Schuschter von den Arabern gefangen genommen und nach Medina geschickt, wo Omar ihn zum Tode verurteilte, H. aber sich durch seine Geistesgegenwart das Leben rettete (vgl. die Romanzen »Harmosan« und »Hormusan« von Platen und Schwetschke). H. trat zum Islam über, wurde aber 644, weil er, vermutlich unschuldig, im Verdacht stand, die Ermordung Omars angestiftet zu haben, von dessen Sohn Abdallah getötet.
