Hexapla

Hexapla (griech., das »Sechsfache«) ist der Titel eines von Origenes (s. d.) zum Zweck einer Revision der Septuaginta (s. d.) unternommenen Bibelwerkes, das den Text des Alten Testaments in sechs nebeneinander befindlichen Kolumnen, zuerst hebräisch mit hebräischen Buchstaben, dann hebräisch mit griechischen Lettern, endlich in vier verschiedenen griechischen Übersetzungen enthält. Beste Ausgabe der erhaltenen Fragmente durch Field (Oxf. 1875), eines in Mailand neu entdeckten Bruchstückes durch G. Mercati (1896).
