Frigg, in der nord. Mythologie Odins Gemahlin. Nach ihr ist (schon in vorchristlicher Zeit) der Freitag benannt. Sie weiß aller Menschen Geschick, obgleich sie es keinem voraussagt. Ihr Palast in Asgard hieß Fensalir (Meersaal); ihre vertraute Dienerin ist die Asin Fulla, die ihr Schmuckkästchen trägt und ihre Fußbekleidung besorgt, ihre Botin Gna. In Deutschland erscheint die Göttin unter dem Namen Frea in der berühmten Langobardensage bei Paulus Diaconus. Frija heißt sie im zweiten Merseburger Spruch, als Frû Frecke trat sie noch lange in Niedersachsen in derselben Rolle wie sonst Frau Holle auf. Diese scheint von F. nur landschaftlich verschieden. Im Norden sind wohl verschiedene Mythen, die ursprünglich von F. erzählt wurden, auf Freyja (s.d.) übertragen.
