Combe

Combe (spr. kōm), 1) Abram, engl. Sozialist, geb. 15. Jan. 1785 in Edinburg, gest. 11. Er schrieb: »Metaphorical sketches of the old and new systems« (Edinb. 1823), worin er die Owensche Gesellschaftslehre darzulegen suchte.

2) Andrew, Physiolog, geb. 27. Okt. 1797 in Edinburg, gest. 9. Er schrieb: »Observations on mental dérangement« (Edinb. 1841); »Principles of physiology applied to the conservation of health« (das. 1834, 15. Aufl. 1860); »The physiology of digestion« (das. 1836, 10. Aufl. 1860); »Treatise on the physiological and moral management of infancy« (das. 1840, 10. Aufl. 1870). Vgl. »Life and correspondence of A. C.« (hrsg. von seinem Bruder George C., Lond. 1850, 2 Bde.).
