Centime

Centime (franz., spr. ßangtĭm'), der 100. Teil des Frank, = 0,81 Pfennig, in Frankreich, Belgien, Luxemburg und der Schweiz, deren deutscher Teil dafür Rappen sagt; wird aus Bronze, in Belgien aus Kupfer geprägt. Mit Frank = 100 C. mußte in Frankreich seit Mitte 1796 gerechnet werden, welche Einteilung in 10 Décimes zu 10 C. schon 1793 bestätigt war. Die dortige Stückelung machte folgende Phasen durch: in Silber 1803–48 zu 50 (entsprechend auch 25) C. = 2,5 g schwer, 900 Tausendstel sein, 1807–45 zu 10 C. = 2 g, 200 Tausendstel, 1848–64 zu 20 C. = 1 g, 900 Tausendstel, seit 1864 zu 50 (auch 20) C. = 2,5 g, 835 Tausendstel; in Kupfer 1796–1803 zu 10 (auch 2 und 1) C. = 20 g, bis 1852 zu 5 C. = 10 g; in Bronze seit 1852 zu 10 (auch 5,2 und 1) C. = 10 g.
