Brechin

Brechin (spr. bréckĭn), Stadt (municipal burgh) in Forfarshire (Schottland), an der Esk, westlich von Montrose, Sitz eines Bischofs (bereits seit 1155), mit alter Kathedrale (aus dem 12. Jahrh., 1807 ungeschickt restauriert) und einem merkwürdigen Rundturm (aus dem Anfang des Mittelalters). B. hat eine lateinische Schule, Leinwandfabrikation, Brennereien, Papiermühlen, Baumschulen und (1901) 8941 Einw.
