Botts, John Minor, amerikan. Politiker, geb. 16. Sept. 1802 in Dumfries (Virginia), gest. 7. Jan. 1869 in Culpepper (Virginia), war seit 1833 mehrere Jahre Mitglied der Legislatur von Virginia, wurde in den Kongreß gewählt und bekämpfte hier die schwankende Politik Tylers. Bei dem Ausbruch des Bürgerkriegs hielt er treu zu Lincoln. Er schrieb: »The great rebellion, its secret history, rise, progress and disastrous failure« (New York 1866).
