Besan- (Besahn-), Vorsilbe für alle Teile der Takelung des Besanmastes, nämlich des hintersten Mastes auf Barken etc. Besan, das Gaffelsegel des Besan- und des Kreuzmastes; Besanbaum, der Baum, woran die Schote des Besans befestigt wird.
