Vanloo

Vanloo (van Loo), niederländ. Künstlerfamilie. Jakob V., geb. um 1614 in Sluis, arbeitete 1642–1662 in Amsterdam und dann in Paris, wo er 1663 Mitglied der Akademie wurde und 26. Nov. 1670 starb. Er malte Bildnisse im Anschluß an van der Helst und Rembrandt, galante Sittenbilder und mythologische Darstellungen (Diana mit ihren Nymphen, in den Galerien zu Berlin und Braunschweig, Paris und Önone in Dresden). Sein Sohn Louis V., geb. um 1642 in Amsterdam, erhielt in Paris den ersten Preis der Akademie, mußte jedoch nach Nizza flüchten und ließ sich 1683 in Aix nieder, wo er 1713 starb. Von dessen beiden Söhnen bildete sich Jean Bapt iste, geb. 11. Jan. 1684 in Aix, in Rom aus. Er wurde 1731 in die Akademie zu Paris aufgenommen und starb 19. Sept. 1745 in Aix. V. hat zumeist Bildnisse (Ludwig XV.) und mythologische Bilder (Diana und Endymion, im Louvre, und Triumph der Galatea, in der Eremitage zu St. Petersburg) gemalt. Sein Sohn Louis Michel V., geb. 2. März 1707 in Toulon, studierte in Rom und ging 1733 nach Paris, wo er Mitglied der Akademie wurde. Von 1736–52 war er als Hofmalerin Madrid tätig, wo er sich besonders als Bildnismaler bewährt hat, und starb 20. März 1771 in Paris. Sein Bruder Charles Amédée Philippe V. (geb. 29. Aug. 1719 in Rivoli, gest. 1795) war von 1751–69 Hofmaler Friedrichs d. Gr., in dessen Auftrag er Kirchen, Schlösser. Theater etc. mit Deckengemälden schmückte und zahlreiche Bildnisse malte. – Louis' jüngerer Sohn, Charles André (Carle) V., geb. 15. Febr. 1705 in Nizza, gest. 15. Juli 1765 als Akademiedirektor und Hofmaler in Paris, malte ähnlich wie sein Bruder Bildnisse, religiöse und mythologische Bilder.
