Teāno

Teāno (das antike Teanum Sidicinum), Stadt in der ital. Provinz Caserta, am Südostfuße des ehemaligen Vulkans Rocca-Monsina (1005 m), an der Eisenbahn Rom-Neapel, mit Calvi Risorta (s. d.) Sitz eines Bistums, hat eine Kathedrale (von 1116) mit antiken Säulen, Überreste von Bauwerken der alten Stadt (Amphitheater, Theater, Bäder, Gräber), eine große verfallene Burg der Herzoge von Sessa (15. Jahrh.), ein Gymnasium, Mineralquelle, Steinbrüche, Fabrikation von Ackergeräten, Eisen- und Kupferwaren, Seife und Teigwaren, Öl- und Getreidehandel und (1901) 4897 (als Gemeinde 13,326) Einw.
