Shorthand

Shorthand (engl., spr. schórt-händ, »Kurzhand«) hat im englischen Sprachgebiete die Bedeutung von Kurzschrift, Stenographie (s. d.). Auf dieser Bezeichnung beruht die Symbolisierung der Stenographie durch eine kurzfingerige Hand oder durch das kurzhändige Känguruh. Shorthandwriter (spr. schórthänd-raiter, »Kurzhandschreiber«), soviel wie Stenograph. Vgl. Longhand.
