Sestos, Hauptort der thrakischen Chersones am Hellespont, in älterer Zeit wichtig als Übergangspunkt von Europa nach Asien, bekannt durch die Geschichte von Hero (s. d.) und Leander und durch die Brücke des Xerxes, 478–404 im Besitze der Athener, dann abwechselnd der Spartaner, Perser, Athener und Thrazier, bis es 353 von dem Athener Chares zerstört wurde. Reste bei Boghalý.
