Radom, Hauptstadt des gleichnamigen russ. Gouvernements (s. oben), am rechten Ufer der Radomka (auch Mleczna) und an der Eisenbahn Iwangorod-Dombrowa, hat alte Befestigungen. mehrere Klöster, eine lutherische und altertümliche kath. Kirchen, ein Knaben- und Mädchengymnasium, eine Kommerzschule, 2 Banken, neuerdings mehrere Fabriken und (1900) 30,126 Einw. R. ist Sitz der Verwaltung des Radomschen Zollbezirks. – Die Stadt soll 1364 von Kasimir d. Gr. gegründet sein; 1505 wurden hier auf einem Reichstag die Privilegien des Adels bestätigt, und 1767 schlossen hier die Dissidenten aus den polnisch-preußischen und litauischen Provinzen unter dem Oberhaupt Karl Radziwill einen Bund.
